I am trying to instal the "essential codecs package" for Mplayer that I downloaded from their site,but I can't figure out which folder to untar the file in. Is there a specific place that the codecs need to go and if so where? I also tried looking in the dsl-n repository with the hopes of it being there. But there wasn't anything there except for the player itself.
