Greetings,
Regarding a recent experience with Knoppix, I played around with the NoMachine Cli/Svr
model. For those who never heard of Nx it is similar to a desktop export server with clients for M$ and Linux. I say similar because they use different technology which inceases the speed of the export/connection much faster than most. After launching the client from a Win2k desktop I was seriously amazed in under a minute I had a full up Knoppix/Linux desktop export waiting for input! Note: this new desktop completely covered up any evidence a M$ machine was behind somewhere...
Anyway, two things; first, if a FAT-Knoppix export could be so fast, could you imagine how a DSL-N export could fare?
Second, the Knoppix CD distro includes the NoMachine server. Since that part of the software appears to "not be" FREE, why are they allowing it on the Knoppix CD?
Or may it be that it is allowed as a "light" modified version?
Thanks,
Respectfully,
