|
|
I don't think this is exactly a noob question but searching through the forums didn't turn up anything useful.
I'd like to make my own custom DSL-N CD that includes some custom apps so that when you install it to hard disk the apps get installed as well.
Basically, I just want the /home/dsl directory to include a about half a dozen additional files. And I'd also like some icons in .xtdesktop to be setup so they appear at a certain place on the desktop.
How is this done?
I've seen references to mkmydsl but the threads that mention mostly complain that it can't be found.
Thanks! |

I would not recommend to remaster during our first initial RC series.
Too much changing. But then again, I can only make this as a suggestion.
The mkmydsl script will be in our first actual release.
Instead we could use feedback in testing this initial release candidate series, especially which extensions work. I am not seeing many bug reports so a release should be soon. |

Look, this is insane. I would rather not follow a 437 step process just so I can insert one extension file into the current DSL-N ISO.
There's got to be a simple way of doing this, yes?
I just want to insert one extension file into the ISO so that it can be manually installed after DSL-N is installed to the hard disk.

You don't have to do a full remaster.
If you are going to use MyDSL type extensions then place them in the base directory, i.e., the same directory as the KNOPPIX folder and create the iso with the mkisofs command. Or I supose you could rewrite if you have such supporting hardware. |

What does that mean? What directory with the KNOPPIX folder? And does this produce a bootable CD?
It would be great to have a simple command that would take the current setup and settings and burn a bootable CD that could be used to duplicate it. |

i use isomaster on this (runs in suse 10.1).... and cd i burn still bootable,...
the only little problem is, myDSL extension still must be loaded manually. (but from the same cd now). But thats fine with me, i use DSL-N only as a liveCD. (or rescue CD i guess, coz as far as i know, the easiest way to repair broken ms windows is re-install it. but that mean a risk for data loss). |
