I am using (for the first time) DSL on a HP notebook Pavilion ZV5416EA. I'd like to know how I can set the max. video resolution, that is 1280x800 (monitor 15.4") which is not present among the choices of xsetup.sh. (Incidentally, I had the same problem with Knoppix). Another issue is the missing recognizement of the touchpad; even though I'm using an external USB mouse by Logitech I would like the internal device to be operational.

You could try downloading XFree86.dsl or XFree86.unc from the DSL repository - if you have a Synaptics or Alps touchpad, this will enable to you fix both problems in one go.
What graphics setup does your machine have - if it is an Intel 855 or similar, the setup for XFree86 is not totally straightforward. If you have a look in Google, you will find several posts from people who have managed to confiure high resolutions with XFree86.
I managed to setup an Alps touchpad easily enough with XFree86 and I saw a post on the DSL forum (search on Alps) where Roberts explains how to set one up on the standard DSL X server |
