Yes you can.
And it propably works just fine. However there is a (small) risk that your mp3 player wont play mp3:s anymore!
If I was you I would backup the MBR of the mp3 player, write down the geometry (cyls/heads.. etc) and make a poor mans install. (ie. copying the files manually to the mp3 player..) |

I think that a new subject is not nessecery but can someone please help.
I am a newbie at linux ang have used ubuntu for half a year only so I started questioning- - I want to get a dsln on my mp3 player so that I could start it from any computer if I want, but as I understand the poormans bootfloppy works only if you have a cd with you.
so can anybody help me with the install |

One way or other you will need to boot into DSL to get it to the USB stick. The CD is the best way. Can you get to a computer that will boot from the CD? |
