Ok, here's my situation:
I need to install DSL-N to a USB drive. I need that drive to basically be a HD install, because I'm going to need to add modules to it to get it to do what I want.
Now, I've got the HD install done on the USB drive. I've massaged grub to find everything, but I found out the hard way that because the kernel doesn't have SCSI built in, you can't easily install it on a USB drive. I'm stuck at this point. Right now, I'm thinking it's easier to use an initrd/ramdisk to get it to recognize the drive. I grabbed the minirt.gz from the ISO, but that seems to have a problem finding Knoppix when it's uncompressed as it is with a HD install.
Is there a way to a) build a new initrd file that WON'T look for Knoppix the same way, or b) give it a proper knoppix_dir cheatcode so it'll find that tree? I've tried both / and /KNOPPIX with no luck. The HD install made a KNOPPIX dir with a bunch of stuff under it, but I'm guessing that the minirt that I snagged assumes it to be a compressed file of some sort.
Anyone have any ideas? |
