I have a few months old system based on an amd fx-55 and 4 sata drives. No IDE.
the dsl 2.1b worked but not all the time, often I have to try to boot it 2 or 3 times before It load it.
This is my experience with a5:
1. works perfect from live cd
2. works perfect from the pen drive (elephant 256) formated as usb-zip. For some reason my mobo (MSI k8n neo4 platinumn m-7125x1) does not offer usb-hd. It only offer usb-fdd, usb-zip and usb-cdrom). I though all the new mobo did it but it does not seems to be the case here. I wil look into any new BIOS and see if this has been add it.
3. I also formated as usb-HD and run it in my laptop (ibm x-40) and it work great.
4. So far the applications I use worked ok. I tried mplayer with many type of files including nuv video and everything is fine.
The kernel 2.4 is past history for me. You have done a fantastic job. THXS |

Nice to hear that our roadmap and planning have resulted in sucess on newer hardware.
This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Thanks for the feedback. |

Hello roberts, John et al,
many thanks for DSL-N! I'm glad it came to life, now I can use DSL with my hardware, too.
You're developing at an incredible pace atm. Just found by "polling" that there's alpha5 by now. I'm wearing out a CD-RW with DSL-N...

When you first release to the public, that is when you initially find many things to fix.
I have tried to stay on top of things and fix things ASAP. I want first impressions to be good.
Hopefully the after the first week of being public many of the initial issues have been solved and so the pace will become more normal.
Thanks go to those who have helped test and report issues on these very early versions. |

This is a follow up of my first message.
As I said I tried the pendrive in two systems one that the BIOS has usb-zip and it does not have usb-HD. The laptop that has usb-HD but it does not have usb-zip.
If I installed in the pendrive as usb-HD only works in the laptop. If I installed as usb-zip it works in BOTH. Seems that the laptop that has only usb-HD can load the usb-zip installation. |
