When trying to run nxclient-1.4.0-75.dsl I get the following error:

error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3

This is a library from an older version of gcc. I found it in
libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2_2.95.4-22_i386.deb

This deb contains the two lib files (one is a symlink) which I copied to
/usr/local/lib and ran as root ldconfig. nxclient then worked.

I don't know how many other packages might need this also, but if
someone else runs into this error then here is a workaround. If this is
needed by other packages then including the lib in dsl-n would help.

Hope this helps.

I don't think it is a good idea to load up DSL-N with all the OLD libraries of DSL.
It is proably even dangerous to be pointing to the DSL repository.
Many of those extensions are kernel/module specific and many use the older library set of DSL.
What we need is a list of know working extenions for DSL-N.
Then start a separate repository for DSL-N with know working extensions.

Well pardon the heck out of me.

I need to use nxclient, so I thought i'd try the dsl package. It didn't work.
Instead of just complaining I thought I'd look further.
I got the latest client from the no-machine site, and it failed in the same way.
So I thought I try to find a solution. When I did I told you about it.
I thought others might like to know also.

I can see now that these kind of actions are not desired, I should only complain.

You won't hear from me again.

My post is not directed at anyone in particular.
Your reaction is very surprising to me.
It's purpose is to generally inform that the repository is not DSL-N specific.
Many extensions will work and then some won't.
The extension library is not an official part of DSL/DSL-N rather they are user contributed.
Some decisions will need to be made to move forward with a DSL-N specific repository.

Hi bbnext,

My two cents: I think you might be misunderstanding the status of dsl-n. The web site makes it clear that this is an *alpha* release, which basically means all bets are off. DSL-N is at a very early stage - perhaps look at it as a pre-release at this stage.

The developers have also made it clear enough that they are looking for feedback just as you have provided.

If you want a mature micro distro with lots of available packages, try the original dsl instead. It's great and all of the extensions should work.

Happy dsl-ing. Come back and try dsl-n again later, I think you'll agree it's going to be great.
