Changes so far:
Added missing triangles in fluxbox menu
missing kbdconfig from dslpanel
fixed missing buttons in emelfm
fixed bug in mydsl-load for .dsl extensions
new boot logo screen thanks to monkymind
address the printing issues
password setup
check to see that cups is started when selecting the Printer Setup button
prompt to persist printer setup by automatically adding cups related files
to the backup control file .filetool.lst upon shutdown
the fluxbox menu was slightly adjusted
updated .mplayer and .naim in the home directory
now using Lawn theme instead of the purple Kharisma one
added smbfs module
fixed beaver to leafpad in .emelfm file
mods applied to emelfm config files
smba extension needing smbfs should work straight away now
Ndiswrapper fixed modprobe issue
added reiserfs support
more changes to ndiswrapper
mplayer conf file to allow zoom
added missing telnet
added missing ftp
added missing editres

On a Dell Optiplex SX280 I have to use the Xfbdev X server to get the GUI, ethernet is detected, haven't tested sound

On a Dell Dimension 9100 no ethernet devices are detected

On a Dell Optiplex GX280 DSL-N detects ethernet, no X server problems, haven't tested sound

On a Dell Dimension 8400 DSN-N detects ethernet, no X server problems, there is no sound (Soundblaster Live)

Would it be possible to include flash and other such plugins required for browsing most of the internet?

I am primarily a Windows user trying out linux for the first time so I am not really able to troubleshoot any of these problem. Just thought I would let someone know.

DSL-N is awesome. I really liked the concept of DSL but felt limited in applications since I am a Windows user. If we could get Firefox instead of Mozilla I think the product would be really improved. Thanks for all of the hard work.

I got the sound to work out of the box on a system with a recent Intel chipset (don't recall the specific one, I think it was 845). All I had to do is turn up the volume in dmix. Also, thanks for including telnet and ftp!

Hi All,

First of all this is my first post on this forum, so I just want to say thanks for the dsl and dsl-n projects, they really rock! I'm using dsl-n now because of the 2.6 kernel and I need to add a number of modules that don't exist on the iso, specifically support for compression for ov518 usb cameras and a wireless pcmcia card I have on my hardware (trendnet).

It would really speed up my work if the config file and instructions for creation of the initrd file (i.e. sources) were made available. Heck, maybe they are available, I just can't find them on the ftp server where I got the dsl-n iso image.

Can anyone point me to them, or maybe post the config file on this forum?

btw, if you change the config to include the kernels config file in gzipped form in the /proc filesystem (this doesn't add alot to the kernel) it would help in the future.

err, I guess uname -a saying compiled by root@Knoppix is a clue.. I'll go look there. Excuse the post!

From the feedback so far, I am going to move it up to Knoppix 4.0.2 and try fix unionfs so that it works!

Skip Knoppix4, Knoppix 5.0.1 Public Release is happening in 2 days, hint, wink, Wink

Bugfixes in unionfs have delayed its release, afaik.

I'm torrenting the 5.0.1 CD today. I don't know if I really need the whole DVD! Smile

I look forward to spinning it up. The 5.0 DVD detected EVERYTHING and displayed all the details of my monitor and every other piece of hardware attached to my PC. I think it might have detected the brand of my watch if my wrist were closer to the computer Very Happy

Actually,

My mini-PDA wristwatch can sync up with me PC using an IR transceiver connected to a COM port.

I should download knoppix 5.01 livecd ISO (livedvd = too big & most PCs don't have DVD-ROM drives) and see if it will autodetect my watch Smile
