What laptop is this in? Maybe someone with the same laptop has figured it out. |

I don't have that laptop, but I've been using the different madwifi modules for a while now, so maybe I can point you in a direction (right or wrong I don't know, but movement anyway.)
From the research on your particular laptop that I've done, I would say that the modules for DSL-2.1b should work with DSL-N on your laptop.
You should try first with DSL-2.1b by burning a DSL2.1b CD. If you have a pendrive, then copy the madwifi.dsl to the pendrive and plug it into the USB port. Boot with the CD. Enter the BIOS and make sure you have CDROM first in the boot list, and (this is key) the wireless default to be on after boot. When you reach the boot splash screen type in your video parameters (like fb128-x1024) and then [code:1]dsl mydsl=sda1 restore=sda1[/code:1]
That will help you make the settings permanent when you get them working.
Watch the boot terminal and you should see madwifi load. It will say something about a tainted kernel, but ignore that.
Once you are at the desktop you need to open a terminal and type
[code:1]sudo su
/opt/madwifi_setup.sh
exit[/code:1]
Then open the DSL panel and click the iwconfig button. Enter ath0 in the first field, then your channel in the channel field and your network name in the ssid field. Nothing in the WEP field. (Make sure your router is WEP off and oepne sytem for now.) Click OK and it should begin to try to connect. Give it a little time. It will report whether it connects or not.
Once you get a connection you can open /opt/bootlocal.sh and put in the line /opt/myiwconfig.sh
That will make the same parameters load at each boot. |
