|
|
Ive been running DSL2.4 on my laptop and have used the System+Backup to hda1 to keep alot of the settings I like and the favorites, address book. It saves nicely in the Gziped backup file . Now Ive run DSL-N up again it seems to be in conflict and has loaded the backup file and presented a desktop with Firefox and Sylpheed amongst other things. Now I am pretty sure Firefox and Sylpheed are not part of DSL-N .. They dont run either.
There appears to be a conflict here in that DSL-N uses the same backup file system as DSL2.4 .. We need to make them separate to my way of thinking really.. The only way to get DSL-N going properly now is to delete or move my backup file from DSL2.4 .. Interestingly when DSL-N boots up with the DSL2.4 desktop it reports a 2.6 Kernel on the desktop stats ..

Don't let it autoscan use restore=hdxy to keep separate. |

Is it time to have the ability to restore/save a backup to a folder instead of a partition, similar to mydsl? Otherwise, you have to have different partitions for backup files for DSL and DSL-N. Just a thought. |

How about separating the backup files simply by using backup.tar.gz (as usual) for DSL and backup-n.tar.gz for DSL-N . This way both DSL and DSL-N could be backed up on the same device. |

well, it lets you "upgrade" automatically if you want to switch to dsl-n, but the menu and xtdesktop info will be off. I wonder how many people will be switching between dsl and dsl-n after it goes through a few more revisions... |
