Robert -
Is this based off knoppix 5.0.1? I was curious if you were attempting that.

Seems not, therefor it won't solve my issues with SATA hdparm requiring >= 2.6.15.
Knoppix has kernel 2.6.17 and a 20060221-0341 snapshot version of unionfs (current unionfs is 1.3). |

The server load must be very high. I have tried downloading the new iso several times since early this morning without luck. It hasn't even been announced on Distrowatch yet.
Maybe in a day or so,
Thanks for all of your hard work Robert & John.

Please note the links to mail and irc should follow
the browser link to the change to seamonkey.
Currently, they still show links to ..
[exec] (Email) {/usr/mozilla/mozilla -mail }
[exec] (IRC) {/usr/mozilla/mozilla -chat}
Looking good so far..
...breaking out the USB key for even more DSL fun...

Not trying to be mean ...but I was browsing at distrowatch when dsl-n was announced and hurriedly downloaded and fired that sucker up as a virtual machine(at work, don't tell the boss) and seemed to be working fine for the limited amount I was able to use it.

So, DSL-N is a girl now?? That is quite an "upgrade"!
I noticed some problems that haven't been fixed, as well as some new ones. This is my first time upgrading a frugal install, though, so I'll save bringing them up until I test RC2 on a LiveCD.
When I did a frugal install, I got the following two errors (from memory):
cp: could not stat file: /mnt/staging/boot/linux: no such file or directory
cp: could not stat file: /mnt/staging/boot/minirt.gz: no such file or directory
Indeed, there is no boot directory on the CD. I fixed it by typing:
cp /mnt/staging/isolinux/linux /mnt/hda1/boot
cp /mnt/staging/minirt.gz /mnt/hda1/boot
I think there is a problem with the frugal script. Of course, I used the RC1 frugal script to upgrade, so it may have been fixed. |

It is now 10:00 PM CDT here in Texas. The link is up and running well now. It must have had quite a load earlier today.
Let's see how RC 2 works.

@jimihieu, I will post the .config file for you to download. I simply forgot to include it.
@clivesay, It is Knoppix 4.0.2 kernel and modules. I was too far into the change to start all over.
@Dragon, Both John and I are conservative when it comes to dsl or dsl-n.
No cvs stuff is included. Usually we stay with the stable, might be a release behind, but that's it.
@ke4nt, As always, thanks for the feedback. Most appreciated!
@Winter Knight, Thanks for the feedback. Glad you guys know what to do!
What is cool about RC2 is that everything is writeable, so just edit the script and run. But please do continue to report them so I can fix it here too.
Hopefully moving forward, will be forward, and not 2 steps forward and three back. There was much to work on for RC2.
Keep the feedback comming.

I wrote about my experience in "User Feedback". Here is a link:
You twice mentioned a seperate dsl-n repository. I saw no such repository.
Btw, kernel 2.6.12 is more than "a release behind." Current stable is 2.6.17.4 |

Accessing DSL CD at /dev/hdb… cat: No file /KNOPPIX/etc/ld.so.cache
Setting paths…cloop: error -3 uncompressing block 2 65536/37451/4987/0 46340-51327
ISOFS: unable to read i-node block
... and it eventually ends in can't mount root... kernel panic.
RC1 worked great on this system (a 933MHz P3 with 256M RAM, cdrom at hdc and CF at hdd) |

If you get a cloop error then likely a bad download. |
