my test pc: cel755, 256ram, onboard vga (intel910)
boots fast, only 8bit colour...so Mplayer won't run.
network configured ok but netscape won't display any urls?
eg: i can ping google.com but netscape won't display it.
How about adding screen res, colour depth...to your excellent "control panel" ?
regards,
Richard

Sometimes dsl-n doesn't have any buttons in the xvesa control panel. This happens with all nvidia cards, afaik, and some others. There are at least two workarounds.

add the boot code vga=normal
This will cause xsetup.sh to be run before you load x. Then you can choose your mouse, display res, and keyboard.

Or, you can modify ~/.xserverrc, or run /usr/sbin/xsetup.sh

I assume by netscape you mean mozilla. I don't know what would cause that. You could try downloading the latest version of firefox, and see if that works. There is also seamonkey and some others.

On command line:

wget

Also, RC2 is out. Maybe that fixes these problems?

I had the same issue with mozilla. Network was fine, but Moz just sat there... Downloaded Firefox (uci) and it worked just dandy. Weird
