I'm using a Dell Inspiron 3500 PII at 300mhz
I'm new to Linux.
After reading, I suspect I shouldn't even try to get this wireless adapter to work.
Is there a make a model wireless adapter I can use?
The hard drive is dead, so I'm running DSL from the CD.
If it's feasibleto use it, please provide instructions for the Linksys.

Here is a list of cards known to work with dsl. I don't know of a dsl-n equivalent.
I found instructions for your card under ndiswrapper. It looks interesting, but not that difficult. I also read thru a thread on linuxquestions where someone got your card working.
Search this page for your card. There are two similar instruction sets. |

You're welcome.
I forgot to mention that wireless under linux is a pain, especially for newbies. Stick with it tho, and you won't regret it.
Also, the forums for DSL are much more active. You won't have to wait two weeks to get a response there. I didn't see anything on ndiswrapper wiki about a 2.6 kernel being required for your card. Trying to get your card to work on DSL first might be the wrong move, it might actually require a 2.6 kernel, but it is something you might want to consider. |
