User Feedback :: DSL-2.0 on an 8 year old Laptop

I tried installing DSL on my NEC Versa NOTE (with upgraded HD and RAM) a while back but when it booted the graphics didn't start properly. The resolution was too large (1024x768, when the laptop can ONLY handle 800x600, no more, no less) and the colours were an ugly combination of yellow, pink and aqua. So, I couldn't even read what's on the screen let alone fix it. That was months ago. I gave it another go last night and stuck with it, it turns out that all it needed was the "fb800x600" option at start up after pressing F2.

Long story short, I installed it on the hard drive and it works much faster than the previous distribution (also made for old machines but ran damn slow) I installed on it.

Thanks for making it possible guys.

Another nice thing I just noticed after I figured out how to mount my USB drive is that the sound card was detected and works perfectly (well, as good as a laptop speaker can produce it), unlike in the previous distribution I tried.

Again, thanks to everyone working hard on this project because it really does fulfil its goals.

Welcome to the Revolution!!!
