User Feedback :: Another Success Story

I've played with DSL on and off for a year. It was my first distribution I tried on my own hardware and I've always loved it. And its one of the only distros that can both shrink AND improve with a major release :).

Its going to be a permanent feature on my new (second hand) laptop for university. P700 256mgRam 10gig Harddrive. The hardware works perfectly (except the win modem :P but I'm using broadband)  and the software just does everything..the lans/ fully functional. Was going to use it for secure surfing to protect my poor little win2000 but I can really see myself using it a lot more.

I love new theme, I reckon most of the rest of the backgrounds should be canned, sorry but they are just ugly. If they were done properly then I wouldn't mind but blurred pixelated desktop images just wreck it. More space should be dedicated to themes of the same quality because first impressions REALLY do count.

JVWM is an excellent addition because I believe DSL is the best way to introduce people to linux, small fast and so well put together. The windowslike start menu helps that until they're are brave enough to try fluxbox (which pwns).

God I love this distribution, every computer should have it. Only wish MS had never developed NTFS so that everyone could use it without a cdrom or a dedicated partition.

I love DSL!
I loved it before I ever heard of it! :p
You hate DSL compared to how much I love DSL!

Yeah I'm fully in agreement, don't forget tho a frugal install only really requires a wee bit of "dedicated partition" so not so bad, say 60mb for the image and on machines with less than 512mb of ram a reasonalbly sized swap partition, then an everything else partition, 1gb would be a huge everything else partition with the extensions being so lite. so grand total nice phat install so that you can stretch out and enjoy yourself is still well under 2gb. less than the size of a movie :D hell thumbdrives are bigger than that now :;):

DSL frugal install with .uci and .tar.gz extensions FTW!
