OK go ahead "You should have purchased Nvidia chip set"
I always thought ATI was fairly common...and a bit easier to manage..as their drivers aren't as proprietary...but I could be wrong

Perhaps you need the xfree86.dsl to activate the proper drivers

Did you ever get it all to work? I appear to have the same MoB
configuration (an ASUS sold by HP) and found that if I set ACPI in the kernel (2.6.15.1) build, most of the ATI functions
worked. However then the Realtek ether chip was not totaly
functional. I think it is a IRQ problem, as the USP controlers
and the Realtek have the same IRQ (10). When I do a Ping I
can see that ARP requests are going out with answers coming
back but i get the error host un reachable.
I am at a point where I can go no further trying to get it all
functional! If you make any progress I would appreciate any
help you can give me!
