User Feedback :: Oy, newby with (too) many questions
Hi,
just copied DSL onto a CD, stuffed it in my old penium 1 Laser Expression+. Booted from CD, answered some q's about the mouse and monitor and about half an hour later, it seems like the system is running. Nice! Two problems: it only runs from the CD, when I remove it and reboot, Windoze 98 appears agian. Secondly, I don't know squad about Linux. Never used it, seen it, etc. Really, more novice that this you cannot imagine.
So, instead of asking many questions, is there a good book or nice write-up somewhere on-line to get me started? I was a iMac user, recently changed to Windoze XP.
Cheers,
Hugo
There is actually a couple of versions of "Linux for Dummys" that are pretty good. I have to warn you though that the world of Linux has progressed extremely fast in the last year, so some stuff is already outdated. Keep working with the DSL Live CD for a while until you learn the ins and outs of it because you can do a lot just with that. You can even backup and restore your settings to the Windows hard drive without hurting anything.
