User Feedback :: Stop screen from scrolling during boot

Is there anyway to stop the screen from scrolling and then step through it?

I can read the colored lines while DSL is booting. But near the end of the boot I can see some black and white messages. They scroll too fast to read and the system starts.

Thanks for any help!

I don't know if this will work because I haven't tried it, but try hitting the pause/break button on your keyboard. It used to work with DOS, but you have to be quick!
Press control+alt+backspace to "disconnect" the X (graphics)server.
The last of the text messages that were displayed during "boot-up" will still be visible.
type "startx" to get the graphics server back up.

ctrl-s to stop
ctrl-q to resume

Rather than shut down and restart X just to read old output, you can press Ctrl+Alt+F1 to view your initial terminal, and Alt+F2 to get back to X.  If you have virtual terminals running, F2 would be replaced by a higher key.  This doesn't display very much info, though.  The most useful thing I can think of, after boot has completed, is to run dmesg|less
