User Feedback :: The Wiki

John,

I remember the spam thing and why Saidin locked it down.
It was justified, at the time.
But SU seems to not be around any longer.
I do not know how you go about picking a Wiki Team you can trust, but I am sure you would have a handful of volunteers if you make a Poll or a specific post about it.

I use phpwiki for my class schedules. The administrator can lock each new page, or not, as he sees fit. I have found the present version to be pretty secure. I have a very simple setup so my students can easily navigate the pages.

If interested, I can PM the page address. You could judge if phpwiki would be suitable for this site.

Jeff

PS. I was once burned by spammers with another wiki system and didn't use one for a year or so.

Spam? How about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha

It's a dead wiki as of now. It's a real shame. Please do fix it!

You're right. There's no excuse not to run a wiki after the introduction of Captcha's.

The captcha extension for mediawiki is here:

Is there an alternitive way to apply for wiki membership? I ask because I believe I have perfected the steps necessary to remaster a hard drive install and want to share back to the community. A wiki would be the perfect place for this type of information.
