User Feedback :: Monitor + Keyboard install

Hello
I am an absolut DSL-Beginner and want to install DSL but how can i change the Screen refresh frequency and the picture is to small (not the resolution)? How can i install my Monitor ?
How can i change the Keyboard-Layout? I install de with xsytem on the Live-CD but it stay us (although there stand de).

Well actually..
The 2nd link is full of BS. (Tried to correct it, but can't write to wiki)

If you want german keyboard-layout you have to select "de-latin1", which has all the german characters. If you select "de" you get german layout without german characters...
