User Feedback :: CF DISK install fails

Okay here are my steps.

CF CARD 1GB using IDE converter.

step 1 - inserted card - formatted using fdisk and also fdisk mbr.

step 2 reboot and run DSL CD

step 3 go to root run cf disk.

step 4 setup new partitions 2 each to cover 1 GB

step 5 write tables and make linux boot partition

step 6 reboot

step 7 mkfs.ext2 /dev/hda1 to do linux format

step 8 mkfs.ext2 /dev/hda2 to do linux format on Hda2.

step 9 reboot

Frugal Install - GRUB Load.

reboot to the CF - gets 1.5 Grub loader error.

any suggestions ?

I am not at my DSL CF computer but I thought I remember an option for using lilo
when installing to a CF card.  Anyway that is what i did and it works fine even though
I would have preferred using grub.

Okay if i use LILO what steps do i to select then to get it onto the CF card....

thanks, not familiar with LILO.

Grub works fine, I've done it many times. When you do the install do you pick u for upgrade or i for install? I suggest you do i and let it reformat the partition before the install because it writes a new boot/grub/menu.lst file when it does that. The upgrade choice does not write the menu.lst file because it assumes you already have one. That will give you a grub loader error.
