User Feedback :: boot error modprobe module block-major-2

Question, my system doesn't have a floppy either.  Why does DSL insist on 'pretending' that there is a floppy drive even if there physically isn't one?
i am trying to boot from the live-cd but it keeps stopping my my pc from starting
i enabled my floppy in the bios and i still have this error.

Code Sample

autoconfiguring deviceXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmodprobe:
modprobe: can't locate module block-major-2
Done.
mouse...
keyboard...
run level 5...

then a black screen and my monitor goes on stand-by.  let me know what other info is needed to boot up.  thanks,

dell poweredge 400sc

fyi,  the knoppix live-cd works for me.
boot failsafe works.

how do i enable internet?

thanks,

I doubt it is the floppy issue.
Usually an acpi related issue.
When you boot from full knoppix, btw, which version, do you see the power related cpu, fan, etc message displayed?
I would try noacpi acpi=off or
acpi=force
Or maybe someone here has a Dell, and knows which boot params will work with your system.
