User Feedback :: Unable to boot DSL 3.0.1
I have a Dell Latitude D610 laptop with 1gb ram. I burned the dsl-3.0.1 ISO image, but when I try to boot it I get the usual two lines "Loading Linux24..." and then loading "something else..." and then nothing. No blank screen. No penguin. The numlock light goes off and the caps lock and scroll lock lights go on.
I've tried fb1024x768 with same results and also 'dsl 2' for text mode.
I was able to run this image inside a VMware server virtual machine, but not from CD. I've burned two of them, from different mirrors, and, of course, checked the MD5 sum.
Any idea what might be wrong?
Thanks
I can't really help but can offer some hope because I'm running DSL on the same laptop. Good luck.

try using the cheatcodes base or the one for interactive startup to see what happens. also try nowhsetup nofstab nousb noagp legacy etc... to see if any help.
I have a Dell Precision M70 and I cannot start v3.0.1 or v2.3 from either USB or ISO. I spent about 3 hours trying to get the USB to boot before I tried to boot the ISO and found out it didn't either. I'll try to capture the kernel panic and post it in a few days.
Hey there,
I do have a D610 and am trying to have DSL work too. So far I fixed my "black screen of death" by using "dsl acpi=off".
DSL boots fine after that. I still have a problem with usb but that's aniother story
