Hi, I downloaded the ISO and used Nero7 to burn the image to disc. The cd would not boot. This was not suprising when I looked at the contents of the cd and saw the boot files in folder by themselves.
Is this normal? Do I have to burn the ISO to a cd, copy those files to my HD then reburn it so it will be self booting?
TIA, Sq
Edited to add: Ok, I have tried this 3 times now with 3 different burning apps. All using the "burn image to disk" options and each time all I get is what looks like a data compilation disk. What is the trick to burn this ISO as a bottable cd please?afaik the boot sectors of the cd point to the [iso/sys]linux folder where the rest is loaded and configured from there. I suppose it would be similar to grub's stage 1 and stage 2.
In nero you can go to Recorder>Burn Image... Make sure your BIOS is set to boot off your cd drive as well.

That's a little cryptic. What error messages did you get? What did you see on the screen? Do you have another bootable cd that can be tested?
You can't tell if the CD is bootable just by looking at the disc in windows. What you are seeing is perfectly normal when viewing the CD from within windows (or mounting the CDROM in linux for that matter).
Chances are it is your boot sequence. Can you boot the CD on another system?
