User Feedback :: DVD-ROM Booting not working
I got a new machine and tried to boot the Live CD of DSL.
My CPU is AMD 2600 1.6 Ghz 64 bit with ASUS mother board.
My DVD-ROM drive is currently detected as secondary master.
My Hard Disk is SATA.
The DVD ROM drive is only used for CD RW and DVD Read.
I have Windows XP already installed.
Currently no device is detected as primary master or slave.
i am unable to boot the DVD ROM.
I even set first boot device in BIOS as DVD ROM.
Still it is going into windows XP and not detecting the Live CD.
Please help.
Did you set the jumpers on the hd and the dvdrom? set the hd as the master and the dvdrom as the slave using the pins.
what are jumpers? i dint know much abt hardware.
as i know there are two ports in mother board one blue and other black in color. here in the black port my DVDROM is connected. In the mother board there is a seperate point for connecting SATA harddisk other than these ports.
DVD ROM is acting as secondary master.
hard disk is not detected as primary/secondary master/slave
how can i set pins/port as master/slave?
geez, pull the hard drive out and look at it,there should be a picture on it that tells you were to move the jumper to to make it a master, slave,or cable select. the cdrom should have the same thing so you can set it as a slave.
Seems I've heard (correct me if I'm wrong) that DSL doesn't yet handle SATA?
Anyway, the blue and black ide connectors should also be labeled, screen printing on the mobo itself, 1 and 2 (maybe 0 and 1, but probably not). Try pluggin the DVD in as primary master then if there's no other drives plugged in ide (which I take to be the case, since your hdd is SATA).
