User Feedback :: DSL and autofs
I would like to automatically mount and unmount usb pendrives so that different people can access the same pc using their own files via their own usb. Just want them to be able to plug in usb etc.
I have used autofs on other larger distros before.
I read in one of the forums that autofs is not activated in DSL, but I notice that all the files seem to be installed including the autofs module.
Is there a reason then why autofs cannot work with DSL?
Does it have something to do with a lack of activation in the kernel DSL uses?
If it can be used so as to run at bootup, can someone tell me how to do this in DSL?
thanks
Peter
Autofs doesn't work in DSL because it was removed. There are Knoppix scripts in DSL that still include reference to autofs, but my guess is that's because of something I heard Roberts once say...(paraphrase) that if a script made by another person does the needed job, he's not going to **** with it.
Thanks mikshaw. A pity.
But can a user reinstall it somehow?
This was answered only one week ago.
mikshaw, I have not idea what your point is?
'twas something about you saying you wanted to respect other people's talents...not changing things unless they needed to be changed. Maybe i'm wrong about this particular situation, but since knoppix-autoconfig still includes autofs code I assumed you left it in there simply because it was doing no harm.
