User Feedback :: ACPI Segments not supported

I sort-of expected it but had hopes that DSL would be Damn Smart Linux too, , and use what other distros have been doing to avoid the problem.
ACPI Segments are not supported by the linux kernel. It is also known as Multiple PCI Domains and not very well documented but well known by GregKH(PCI maintainer), Linus, etc. that the kernel does not have support for it. (FWLIW: MS$ O$ has supported it for a long time on NT* OS. ... )
To get DSL to complete loading the kernel, a new kernel image is going to be needed. SUSE, RHEL, CentOS and, ithink, the latest Ubuntu/kubuntu all work on this GA-2CEWH mainboard from Gigabyte. I suppose those are too big to use but if not, what would be the steps to make them compatible with DSL?
I have not actually installed ubuntu 6.06 yet but did run part of the install so that is a good indication that what was broken last year is now fixed. AS I understand it(I could be wrong) the work around is that somewhere in the kernel config the number of PCI domains are just hard set to one and the kernel just ignores the other devices in the other domains. The effect here is that my PCIX slots are unavailable. I don't like it but can live with it for now.
I guess I am posting here so John and Robert can address the issue with DSL as well as upstream with Knoppix. I do not know that Knoppix has the same problem since I have not used it but from what I have read, it would just about have to.
All "advanced" mainboards have PCI space/power problems. When one adds PCIX into the equation it becomes more likely the multiple domains are needed to balance power on the system and keep the board stable. IOW, it is not just my board and there are more coming in the future.
I hope that DSL will carry the message upsteam to Knoppix and also that a solution can be implemented.
I am so depressed ... I was really looking forward to running DSL on my Corsair Flash Voyager(Rev 1) 128MB USB Flash Drive.
