User Feedback :: Blank diplay after keyboard layout selection... ab

I am using a thumbdrive to boot DSL.  Everything works fine until it just after it detects my network hardware.  The screen just after this point goes blank and stays this way unless I reset the computer.

I've used "dsl vga=normal" and this seemed to fix the problem.  I can get through to the select resolution options and then the blank screen happens again.  I assume it is a video problem but I can't figure out exactly what.  I've tried 640 x 480 256 colors , 800 x 600, and 1024 x 768.  None of these work.

Geforce FX 5500 128MB AGP
Viewsonic VA712b LCD monitor.

Any help would be great!!

Dan

**Edit** I did a Google on this issue.  It seems the ethernet connection is what caused the problem.  I disconnected it and rebooted the computer.  DSL booted right to the desktop.  It's funny the issue happened on a 0.9.0 release (using 2.x now.)  Is there a fix for this anywhere?**

A geforce of any kind should run any of the default settings without trouble, and i think that monitor shouldn't have a problem with it either.  I'm guessing it's something else, but at this point i'm not sure where to look.  It might actually be your network hardware....I vaguely recall having my system go unresponsive at one time because i had the wrong ethernet driver installed.  That was in a different distro, though.
