User Feedback :: DSL Saves The Day

Wanted to quickly praise DSL; the hard drive in my Dell laptop died finally after 2 years, and I can't seem to find another that will work. I thought I would have to go without during classes- no net access to keep me sane, no online chatting or browsing... auhg!

I burned the current ISO onto a cd-r, and away I go- I have no hard drive in this laptop, but can sit here, chatting with friends, and posting through Firefox to the DSL boards

Instant shut-down, responsive GUI, included apps... I'm very impressed. So, three cheers for DSL- let's all toss our hd's, who needs 'em?

yeah same here, except that i've only had my hard drive for about a year and a half and I expected it to last much longer...

Same here. Used DSL primarily for web browsing when I didn't feel like waiting for XP to boot, then XP killed itself and the hard drive it was on......

So, I dug out a 1.2GB Toshiba hard drive out of an old dead P1, popped it in my P3 1GHZ computer, and now I have something until I order a new hard drive..... which I don't have to hurry on. Nice.
