User Feedback :: Monkey httpd enough stable?
I have many problems with monkey. Can't really remember all.
One really nasty one is when I have enough long html or *.txt page it cuts some lines and adds text like this between the lines: "If-Modified-Since: ]Ít&".
There are many more lightweight httpds out there.
I'v heard that Cherokee is good one.
How about you? Opinions please.
My Monkey shut down occassionally. Usually after some hours.
I installed Apache from the extensions and it runs perfectly. (http://www.opaj.info)
With a small amount of http pages, I am not bothered by Apache being a little larger.
I am glad I finally found a thread depicting the problems with Monkey, so I know I am not the only one.
Monkey btw need a forum or rather thread of it's own. There seem to be only the one at sourceforge that noone uses.
Abyss is another small web server. Easy to install on Windows, but wouldn't (and difficult) install on DSL. Abyss is found on www.aprelium.com. Perhaps an embedded Abyss Web Server is the best solution. However it's not open source.
I wonder if my Monkey problems arise from shutting the laptop lid activating a sleep/hibernation process.
I am not in the mood to experiment further with my server but will leave it to other hobbyists.
That does not occur with my laptop (luckily). But it happens with my server hardware when it shuts screen and one fan. Actually it goes to suspend mode so i need some other method to shut fans when those are not needed. Anyway. When it is in suspend mode that computer closes all traffic to internet/lan. So you propably need to set some setting from your bios that configures your laptop only to turn screen off and not to go suspend mode.
Is this a possible replacement for monkey (haven't used it so I don't know if it's any good):
