User Feedback :: DSL will not start...
I have a "white box" from about 1999-2000, running a pentium pro 200 and 256 MB ram. I also have scsi hard drives and cd. I've tried about 8 different distros and so far only one will boot up successfully. That distro is Dream Linux 2.1 workstation. I wanted to try DSL, but I get to the point of
"Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel."
and that's where it sits forever. So far, I've tried about 6 of the various dsl option parameters without success. If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it, even if it's that from past experience, I should stop spending time trying DSL.
By 'sits' it just freezes there? Do any keyboard lights light up?
Did you try failsafe, or any other boot/cheatcodes?
You can also remove "quiet" to see the kernel messages.
A shot in the dark: It could be a scsi problem, maybe you could take out the scsi card and try again.
