User Feedback :: Port Problems For An eMachines T3256

I am trying to use DSL 3.2 (live CD) on an eMachines T3256 (AMD Athlon XP 3200) and it appears to be having problems with the T3256's Digital Media Manager.

The Digital Media Center on the front of the PC contains a USB port, a SD/MMC/SM/MS/MS-PRO port, and a CF/MICRODRIVE port.

I would like to be able to use the Digital Media Center, at least the USB port.

When booting up, after autoconfiguring, I get an error message about "modprobe: can't locate module block-major-2".

Switching to console screen 1, (ctrl,alt,F1), I see two messages:

One is about insmod failing for apm.o, which is okay since this PC does not use apm.  I have tried using the cheat code, dsl noapm to stop this, but it does not seem to work.

The other is insmod failing for char-major-10-134.

Examining dmesg, I get messages like below:

<4>sda : READ CAPACITY failed.
<4>sda : status = 1, message = 00, host = 0, driver = 08
<4>Info fld=0x0, Current sd00:00: sns = f0  2
<4>ASC=3a ASCQ= 0
<4>Raw sense data:0xf0 0x00 0x02 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x0a 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x3a 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00
<4>sda : block size assumed to be 512 bytes, disk size 1GB.
<4>sda: test WP failed, assume Write Enabled
<6> sda: I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0
<4> I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0
<4> unable to read partition table
<4> I/O error: dev 08:00, sector
__

From what I can determine, sda is the SD port in the Digital Media Center.

The USB port in the Digital Media Center does not work, I get the following message in dmesg:

<3>usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=2 (error=-71)

I am able to mount a USB stick using one of the 4 USB ports on the back of the PC.
