User Feedback :: Anonymous Linuxaholics - a new member
Hello everybody!
My name is Mikko, and... oh, this is so hard... okay here it comes: I'm a linuxaholic. I'm seriously addicted. I've been using various Linuxes since 1998, and a couple of years ago my linuxaholism went so bad that I had to stop using anything else. I also had an LFS-mania about four or five years ago, which only lead to total blackness when the system hang, so no more about that. Then, a few of weeks ago, I found DSL (just noticed what DSL is backwards). The first trip was so amazing that I just had to get more of it. I don't think, I can ever get cured from my linuxaholism...
Seriously; what it comes to DSL, I installed it to my old PC (500 MHz, 128 MB, 20 + 12 GB) and was immediately hooked! I didn't have a monitor available, so I did a headless HD installation, which was very easy after I had tested the installation on my laptop first just to know the questions the installer asks. It's sooo nice to have the oldie running so smoothly again after a number of Fedoras!
One of the best things of DSL, in addition to size, is the "SSH" cheat code, which makes it safe to perform the installation from a remote location. I've used Telnet installation method earlier, and that really needs to be done in isolated network.
Oh, I almost forgot: I wrote a DSL installation instructions, mainly for myself, but if anyone finds it useful, then I'm glad to be helpful: Damn Small Linux 3.4.1 - Headless HD installation
And finally: Damn Big Hand to all Damn Small Linux developers! Thanks!
Yours,
Mikko
