User Feedback :: Question on libfreetype

I was compiling conky-2 and got an error involving libfreetype.

On a legacy boot in dsl-3.4.7 I have the following:
Code Sample
$ ls -l /KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfreetype*
-rw-r--r--    1 dsl      staff      434204 Jun 25  2005 /KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6
$ ls -l /ramdisk/usr/lib/libfreetype*
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           20 Dec  2 18:08 /ramdisk/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 -> libfreetype.so.6.3.4
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       434204 Dec 13  2004 /ramdisk/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6.3.4

On a non-legacy boot in dsl-3.4.2 I have:

/KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 -> libfreetype.so.6.3.4
/KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6.3.4

On the legacy boot, shouldn't things look like this, or am I missing something?

I also checked this on dsl-4.1:
Code Sample
standard boot dsl-4.1
---------------------

$ ls -l /KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfreetype*
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           20 Dec  8 14:01 /KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 -> libfreetype.so.6.3.4
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       434204 Dec 13  2004 /KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6.3.4

$ ls -l /usr/lib/libfreetype*
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           20 Dec  8 14:01 /usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 -> libfreetype.so.6.3.4
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       434204 Dec 13  2004 /usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6.3.4

legacy boot dsl-4.1
-------------------

$ ls -l /KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfreetype*
-rw-r--r--    1 dsl      staff      434204 Jun 25  2005 /KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6

$ ls -l /usr/lib/libfreetype*
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           20 Dec  8 14:11 /usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 -> libfreetype.so.6.3.4
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       434204 Dec 13  2004 /usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6.3.4

but (for example)..

$ ls -l /KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfontconfig*
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           22 Aug 14 13:44 /KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfontconfig.so.1 -> libfontconfig.so.1.0.4
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       154864 Jun 25  2005 /KNOPPIX/usr/lib/libfontconfig.so.1.0.4

As a result, applications requiring libfreetype.so.6.3.4 don't find it on a legacy boot (I think).
