You need to go to the dell support site and navigate to the downloads section for your laptop.
I believe you will need to use windows to update the firmware - before that though, did you try the acpi=off boot code? It's called BIOS there
To try the bootcodes, you enter them at the first screen, with the big pic and some text at the bottom.

Hi Juanito and curaga,
Thks for the reply, I had tried your method and go to BIOS. However, i cannot found any ACPI inside the BIOS. To make sure I did not miss it, I called my friend to help me and he said he is very surprises because acpi is not there!
could it be that Dell notebook has another name for acpi?
Can someone help? I have been trying DSL for quite sometime. I wish I could get it works on my notebook PC.
Thanks.Hi All,
Finally I got it works! This is what I did:
a) Start the PC with the bootable dsl inserted.
b) when prompt appeared at the dsl environment type "dsl acpi=off".
Note: you don't have to go to BIOS to change the acpi setting. That is where I'm loss. Still a big thanks to all and now I am able to explorer into Linus using DSL.
BTW, where can I find some article about how to use dsl, what other wanders can I do with DSL, I find dsl very exciting.
