User Feedback :: DSL boot floppy
I have been playing around with a Compaq Presario 2100 laptop with a dead hard drive. I have found that I can boot this PC with DSL or Feather from Flash memory sticks. Works great. I have also booted from CDs with the help of boot floppies and a USB floppy drive. When I use a boot floppy it appears the kernel lacks the USB support I need to make this crippled PC useful again. I'm sure this support has been left out of the kernel on the floppy to make it fit. If this is not the case then the kernel on the downloadable floppy image needs updating. Can anyone say so for sure? Thanks.
Are you using bootfloppy-usb.img, or just the regular boot floppy?
