User Feedback :: Problems with boot

if you are using a shared connection over the network then it should be ready to go out-of -the-box, PPPoe is for DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) connection, i think.

head over to our irc channel at irc.freenode.net #damnsmalllinux

or start a new thread over in the Networking area.

Blargh! It wasn't fixed! Sorry about my last post saying it was fixed, I thought it was. When it worked I had booted in "failsafe" mode and it prompted me for exactly as you said and I just told it to boot in 1024x768x32 and it booted up. I tried it again under normal booting, and after it prompted me to do that it gave me the same error anyway! I think that the internet didn't work because failsafe mode doesnt attempt to detect much hardware.

Basically, it boots in failsafe, doesn't boot in normal.

It gave me a different error when I booted in "expert" mode:

Code Sample
Xauth: creating new authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority
Xauth: creating new authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority

giving up
Xinit: Connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to X server
Xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error

Help again with booting up please...

failsafe uses framebuffer mode, so try that.
It worked! For real! It booted and has internet! Thank you so much!

Anyway, on to the next problem... I assume by booting into framebuffer mode there is a noticable reduction of the graphics. Is the problem with AGP or something? I want to boot it normally for best performance.

I just wanted to say that I made this post on Linux... feels good...
