User Feedback :: Monkey Web Server

I'm new to dsl and linux so I'm highly confused and having fun.

Unfortunately I lost my Monkey. I wanted to use the new Monkey available at the author's website so I deleted the installed version thinking no big deal.

Woe is me. There is nothing in the /bin folder. Is it possible to get Monkey again without reinstalling dsl?

Hello there,

Don't know exact details, but if you search the forum you should find something on the Monkey webserver. There was a question about installing an updated version (from the monkey website) and I think it was simple as unpacking it into the /opt/monkey/ folder? So you may need to create the folders first.

It's great that this old laptop can do something (anything) useful again after two years of collecting dust. My goal is to place it nearby to use it as both a coffee cup holder and a web server. ;)

The Monkey website talks about using GCC and Make but this is way into unknown territory.

With Monkey running I check the version of Monkey by looking at my ip at http://www.seoconsultants.com/tools/headers.asp

I've done everything I can think of but with every change I make the version stays the same...

I'm thinking that without updating those binaries in bin then the server stays the same?

download dsl-dpkg.dsl, install, change /etc/apt/sources.list to point to unstable and apt get install monkey.
