User Feedback :: US Patent for USB OS ?

Hi DSL guys,

It seem to be a Patent for USB boot, here a link :
Link to the US Patent

Well, we don't have to worry, DSL won't boot on any computer, just any x86 computer. Any computer would mean x86, ppc, amiga, sparc, etc.

And DSL/Knoppix reconfigures itself with every boot, so we really don't fit in that. ^_^

Extracts from the link :

"Thus it includes as a primary example a personal computer (PC) such as a desktop or a laptop"

"It is portable in that the device allows a user to load a customized operating system into any computer system without having to reconfigure the operating system each time the customized operating system is loaded into a new computer system."

Hmm, how long has DSL been usb booting.... it says
Filed: April 1, 2004
But also has April 2003 in the text.

Just another reason why software patents are a really dumb idea.

USB bootable OS's have been around for a while now.  Zipslack has been doing this since what, 99?
