User Feedback :: System Freeze after about 1 hour of Browsing
Hello,
Finally got my Linksys wireless card working a few weeks ago and have been using DSL for most of my web surfing (except for Yahoo! Chess!). I always use the "DSL TORAM" option as my CD player is external and it's anoying to have that hanging out on my couch. Anyway after lots of surfing the system willl freeze up and my only option is to hold down the power key. Is it because I've copied DSL to ram and after lots of surfing etc. I run out of RAM and freeze up my computer? I'm guessing as websites load they all of the info is written to the RAM but it would be nice to have some sort of CTRL+ALT+DEL option to shut it down without using the power key
THANKS
Try loading up the java1.5.0 extension if you want to play all the Yahoo Games.
Check your cache size in Firefox Preferences.. set it low < 1MB .

Try using a swap partition or a swap file.
This will allow your computer to use virtual memory on your hard drive in the event that you run out of physical RAM.
You can also try the keycombo alt-SysRq - b to reboot the box without powerdown..

I'm still a relative linux noob (you may recognize me from such noob topics as "Good Book about the command line" or "wlanctl-ng and iwconfig issues ").
Are there any tutorials on how to load the java1.5.0 extension (or extensions in general)? I'm guessing that involves rebuilding my DSL CD or pendrive installtion and I'm willing to learn if someone could point me in the right direction. I love surfing using DSL....feels much safer as nothing can infest my employer's computer!
