In the terminal type 'md5sum' followed by a space and the name of the file.
Example: md5sum dsl-1.5.iso
than compare this with the given md5sum in the matching file ending in .md5.txt

Or you can download an MSDOS or WINDOWS version of the MD5SUM checker.

Search Google or download.com for a free checker

For example, I use this one:

You will then need to save the matching *.md5.txt checksum file that is for your downloaded *.iso file
