X and Fluxbox :: OpenGL on 15Khz X display
I'm working on a project that needs to output a 15Khz video signal and uses accelerated OpenGL.
From what I have read so-far, the best solution is DSL with Xfree86 on top. Which looks like it'd get me the OpenGL ok. The next bit is the 15Khz signal. Any pointers here? Is it just a case of installing XFree86 and changing the mode list?
I do have the luxury of picking the hardware to run. I was looking at a nVidia based integrated video motherboard. I would prefer to not have to have a video card.
The problem is I don't actually know if the hardware that has the OpenGl support also has the capability of putting out a 15Khz Signal.
Any suggestions before I dive into this would be appreciated.
I think vga cards use RGB signals plus two separate horisontal and vertical sync signals. Some cards may be able put hor/vert signals on one wire (and a very few may be able to output sync on green). Standard vga uses a 31.5 kHz horisontal sync frequency and I don't know if any cards support lower frequencies on the vga port.
It may be that your solution is a card with a TV-out port.
