Thanks for the offer, but the Xfree86.dsl in the extension repository works just fine on the chipset as well. The point here, however, is to get the infinitely smaller-footprinted Kdrive server working.

Which one(s) have you built? If I can find a matching device to test it on, I would be happy to test this and offer suggestions. You can submit it to the extensions email address.
