X and Fluxbox :: Add/Remove Icons



This will copy the contents of /etc/skel/.xtdesktop to your home .xtdesktop directory, overwriting whatever is there:
cp  -f  /etc/skel/.xtdesktop/*  $HOME/.xtdesktop/

The address listed at the bottom of my post is a very good starting point for learning all things linux (tldp.org is a good place for other more specific help as well).  The command reference can be found at http://www.linuxdevcenter.com/linux/cmd/ and more info at http://www.linuxcommand.org/ although i don't think there exists a repository of ALL commands.

IDIDIT!!!

I was able to find the .hide files on midnight commander. after i deleted it, i was able to add the shortcut to the desktop, log off and back on w out losing it.

i must have "forum jumped" or something.  The "IDIDIT" reply was to a different Q.  very interesting.

oh, now i see.  there are two pages.

linux, forums, command lines, it is all so new to me.  i think i am just wasting space now. i will quit.  Thanks again for the info!
