X and Fluxbox :: Fluxbox 0.9.14 (Window Placement and Taskbar)

Oh....I think i got confused about what you wanted.

Code Sample
session.screen0.toolbar.onTop:  True
session.screen0.fullMaximization:  False

The second option will prevent maximized windows from going beyond the top of the toolbar. Fullscreen windows will still stretch the whole height of the sreen, as far as I know.

ahh this works .... thanks a lot, the only one, that is now NOT placed OVER the toolbar, is the slit... is there a way to place the slit also other the toolbar ?

all my elements are now layered at the normal layer.

Try right-click on the two objects.  I believe there are layer settings that address this specific issue...."above slit" or "above toolbar" or something like that?

There is a line which reads something like 'session.screen0.slit.OnTop'.  I'm not sure if this will allow to slit to be over the toolbar or not.  Then again, I'm not sure if I actually understand the question.

Speaking of questions, since I already asked one, how can one configure the slit?  I'm familiar with the file to add dockapps, but I'm more concerned with configuring the actual appearance of the slit.  I haven't noticed anything useful in the /.fluxbox directory...

I don't know which takes priority either...never paid attention to it myself since the slit had always been apart from the toolbar on my desktop.  I'll check it out next time i'm in fluxbox.

Configuring the slit visuals is done in the style file.

The slit usually uses the same options as the toolbar. Most of the time this should work reasonably well. If you want to specifically style the slit, there are three style directives you can use:

   slit: [texture option]
   slit.color: [color value]
   slit.colorTo: [color value]

These commands work just like those for menu, window etc. when texturing the Slit.

Placement, size, etc can be configured by right-clicking on the slit frame.  Setting are stored in .fluxbox/init
