X and Fluxbox :: getting KDE

(linux newb alert!)
hello, finally got dsl to dl on my hd and get it to dual boot. works great. just playing around with it now. later on ill worry about getting my Fdisking fstab to autoboot right. but for now, i would like to know how i would obtain and install kde. fluxbox is okay, but i was using kde on another distro that had it prepackaged, and i liked it better... :P. so my question is... how do i install and run kde from my hd (note i already have dsl on my hd and boots great.) thx alot

im using a p166 pc if it helps or even matters in this case.

As John has mentioned in another post, DSL is really not designed to handle Kde. I find IceWm makes a great window manager, it can be configured to look any way you want.

And on that 166 you'll find Kde to be a real slow dog depending on the amount of ram you have.

roadie

i remember in the distant past we upgraded to 64m of ram... will that enable me to run kde well?
jehar, I'd say the icewm solution might be better: I've run KDE 3.1 on a 200mhz PII with 64mb RAM - but it was pretty sluggish. On a P166?
Well...how patient are you? Also note the points already made about KDE not really being suited for DSL... I doubt the effort and time would be worth it for you.

If you feel like trying something different you might look at Windowmaker, which is pretty lightweight, or browse
