X and Fluxbox :: Menu's are gone....
I've installed DSL 8.4 on my hard drive. Been using it for a while and I've added several files from the MyDSL listings. Up till tonight when I right clicked on the desktop I had a full menu to pick applications from.
Tonight I added qcad.tar.gz and doom.dsl from the MyDSL listings and now my Menu (when I right-click on the desktop) just has three items....xterm....Restart...Exit.
Is there any way I can get my old menu back? Is there a command that rebuilds the menu or a place where the old menu might be backed up?
I guess I could run DSL from the CD and then copy the .fluxbox information over to the hard drive... then reinstall all my .dsl extention files. Just wondering if there was another way before I did this.
Thanks for any help.
I figured out what went wrong.... as with most of my Linux problems.... it was a self inflicted wound.
While downloading the doom.dsl I filled up my DSL partition on the hard drive. I guess the scripts deleted the menu but couldn't put a new one back or something like that.....
anyway.. i just booted from the cd and copied some of the /home/dsl files after I made some space on the partition. Then did a little tinkering with .xtdesktop and .fluxbox (more chances to mess stuff up...). I've gotten my menus and desktop back and I've learned something. Not a bad day.
I give Thanks, on this Thanksgiving.
well, glad that is fixed
if i have not already said so then: welcome to the forums!!!
