Hi, I've got a Sony C1VE laptop which has a weird resolution. I've installed DSL to the HD and I'd like to know how to make it display this resolution.
Whilst looking on the web I found a page that said I needed to put
into the XF86Config file, which I have done, I've then gone through and changed all the "Screen" entries to just have this option in but it still uses 640x480 which only uses half the monitor.
Have I missed something?
Thanks very much -MalphasHi
In most cases the default configuration uses Xvesa. Have you tried using the Xvesa button in DSLpanel. It seems to do a pretty good job figuring out what resolutions are available on my hardware anyway.
Good luckHi, thanks. I have tried it and it either gives a blank list with an 'OK' button, or it sometimes gives the option '640x480'.
I've been searching all over, but I'm a Linux Noob so it's hard to know where to start.
thanks -MalHi Probably your next best step is to CRTL-ALT-BKSP to kill the xserver. Then type
xsetup.sh
select the options you want to try. Then type
startx
It may take some trial and error but usually you can find a setting that will work. Then again there are some combinations of hardware that just refuse to cooperate.
good luckTried that, it doesn't give 1024x480 as an option, and choosing any of them still just gives me 640x480.
Thank you though!
I'll keep searching about for somethingNext Page...
