X and Fluxbox :: xfbdev resolution too big

hello,
I've been trying to open xfbdev in 800x600 resolution with no success. how can I do that ? I did add -screen 800x600 to .xserverc but it didn't help anything. Also my resolution is too big outside X (I can't see bottom messages during boot) how can I change that ?

look at the f3 file on the CD.

put one of those codes into the append line line lilo, or in the kernel line in grub, or type it in at the boot: command line.
